The Boston Red Sox honored Derek Jeter before his final Major League game Sunday at Fenway Park. The Green Monster paid a special message to The Captain, while Boston trotted out former sports captains such as Bobby Orr, Paul Pierce and Troy Brown before the game. Jeter, if you hadn’t heard by now, will retire after today’s game.

Boston fans also stood up and chanted “Der-ek Je-ter” during his  first at-bat … which is surprising given the number of “Jeter Sucks” t-shirts sold on Lansdowne Street over the last two decades. (Jeter lined out to short, if that matters.)
