Tim Hudson Wonders if the Nationals Have Enough "between (their) legs" to Go Far in the Playoffs

The Washington Nationals finished with the best record in the National League and will host the Wild Card-winning Giants Friday when their NLDS series gets underway. Do the teams have any historical rivalry? For the life of me I can’t even recall anything that ever happened between the Giants and Expos before they moved to DC in 2005. Regardless, it looks like Tim Hudson is trying to stir the pot a little bit before the series begins with a quote that implies the Nationals don’t have the requisite, umm, fortitude to win in the playoffs.

From the Washington Post:

"“Obviously they have a talented group over there, there’s no question,” Hudson told The Post’s Barry Svrluga. “They have some great pitching. But come playoff time, talent can take you a long ways, but what do you have between your legs? That’s going to take you real far. And I think we’ve got a group in here that really has some of that.”"

The Giants have won two World Series in the last five years, however Hudson was pitching for the Braves at the time. And if we want to split further hairs and extrapolate this to playoff experience vs. inexperience — which I’d guess Hudson was sort of getting at with his quote — in 2010 when the Giants won the World Series (their first since 1954) they defeated the Phillies in the NLCS. Philadelphia had played in the previous two World Series and had veterans like Roy Halladay and Roy Oswalt in the rotation.

Eh, there are so many potential jokes to make here that I’ll simply leave the final word here to Jeffrey Lebowski:
