Danny Green Took a Selfie at the Berlin Holocaust Memorial [UPDATE]

Danny Green took a selfie at the Holocaust memorial in Berlin during the Spurs’ trip to Germany. He posted the same photo to Instagram, but captioned it differently: “A lot of history here, more than you could imagine…very sad/tragic things happened #holocaust #berlin.”

If Green was on a guided tour at the memorial, he was likely told the significance of the blocks, which grow taller in size as you reach the center to symbolize how Hitler’s movement gradually snowballed until it was inescapable.

It goes without saying that the tone in Green’s Facebook caption does not convey requisite empathy, and that it’s inappropriate to disseminate a selfie from there over social media in the first place. Nevertheless, this was almost certainly a case of ignorance rather than malice.

UPDATE: Green has added a second photo on his Facebook page, which has the same caption as his Instagram.
