Jon Gruden wanted to be the head coach at Michigan, according to an old University of Dayton media guide. Instead, Gruden worked at various college and NFL stops before finally winning the Super Bowl as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2003. Meanwhile at Michigan, the Bo Schembechler era ended in 1989 and gave way to a few years of Gary Moeller, followed by a decade of Lloyd Carr, three disappointing years with Rich Rodriguez and now, of course, Brady Hoke.

Gruden hasn’t coached since 2008, giving him plenty of time to think about new dream jobs. [H/T: @DanWhitaker_UD]
