Jameis Winston: Florida State Investigating Autographed Items Authenticated Online
By Jason Lisk
Florida State is investigating a large number of items that are authenticated online as being signed by Jameis Winston, according to ESPN. James Spence Authentication has more than 340 autographed certified items by Winston. The same authentication company has more than 500 items that were signed by Todd Gurley, the suspended Georgia running back, also authenticated.
" ESPN has learned that after the team’s 38-20 win against Syracuse Saturday, Fisher approached Winston and asked him if he signed autographs for money. Winston told Fisher, according to the source, that he did not."
We have already seen one Heisman candidate sidelined because of money received for autographs. Could we have another? The large number of signed items, suggesting this was not just provided to some youthful fans on a one-on-one basis, is a potential problem.
Racing to a Red Light first identified concerns with Jameis Winston autographed items appearing in bulk at the James Spence Authentication website.
