Fantasy Football Starter Rankings, Week 7: Jimmy Graham is Active and Will Play Against the Lions

Jimmy Graham is active for this week, as announced by the Saints Twitter account, so we can assume it is good. This though, brings me to a quasi-rant about injury info in the NFL. We eat up knowing who is in/out each week. The actual accuracy rate of such info? Not so much. We have seen reports of both Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery being likely out for a Sunday Night game (they played). On Graham, we saw reports that he could be out an additional 2-3 weeks after the bye. Oh well, on to the next report of questionable accuracy.

Speaking of, our rankings are merely trying to take the best information available, but as always, combine it with your own judgment. That information includes the recent player performance, the points allowed to the position by the opponent for that week, and recent usage by the coaching staff (particularly running back splits on touches). It’s hard to predict how a coach will react in a given week and who will be in the doghouse. The Harvin news coming out after the fact is but one example.

Other key inactive/active decisions this week include:

Jake Locker is again inactive as Tennessee goes to Washington; slight impact on wide receivers in that game;
Sam Shields is out but Tramon Williams is active at cornerback for Green Bay going against Carolina;
As expected, Johnathan Stewart is active while DeAngelo Williams is still out;
Toby Gerhart is out so Storm Johnson is a starting option.
Not a surprise, but Calvin Johnson and A.J. Green are both out again.
