Skip Bayless talking Kobe Bryant, alleged rape, and sneaker sales.
What could possibly go wrong?
Actual words, uttered by Skip Bayless, on TV, today: “[Kobe] couldn’t sell sneakers because he didn’t have enough edge. Post-Eagle, Colorado he became … it brought a little attention to him. It gave him a little bit of … sizzle.”
The lengthy pause before sizzle is something in Skip’s brain saying, “wait, what am I saying?” or a producer in his ear saying, “get the hell out of there, now!”
Kobe Bryant lost endorsement deals with McDonald’s and Nutella as a result of the sexual assault allegations and subsequent trial. Six months before the alleged rape (a civil suit was settled out of court), Kobe had the 3rd best-selling jersey in the NBA. [Video via Sole Collector]
