Landon Donovan Continues to Stretch His Unexpected Comedic Chops

Landon Donovan has pretty good comedic timing, who knew? The American soccer star announced his retirement earlier this year aad this month he played his final game with the National Team. In between he’s taken some time to laugh at himself and his 2014 World Cup snub. Sunday he’ll play his final regular season MLS match. To promo the game with the Seattle Sounders Donovan filmed this collection of intentionally lame prank calls to various members of the Sounders, including Clint Dempsey getting the old “updog” treatment. (Whether or not his cut-off sweatpants shorts were supposed to be intentionally funny is a little less clear.)

Whomever wrote Donovan’s material here ought to file off a resume to Mulaney before its too late.
