If you ever stumble upon the movie Goon on a late night cable TV and have nothing better to do, it’s worth a watch. Maybe you wouldn’t think a sports movie starring Stiffler as the titular hockey goon, bouncing around the backwaters of Canada would be quality, but the Jay Baruchel penned-comedy is a solid enough way to spend 90+ minutes on your couch.

I’m going to guess part of Goon is based on Quebec’s Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey, which the New York Times dubbed the ‘world’s toughest’ hockey league back in 2011. Anyways, here’s a recent fight between Dylan Garrioch and Guillaume Coude, which ends via a one-hit KO by Coude. The way the crowd gets into the fight and the post-KO theatrics by Coude stand out. The YouTube account that uploaded is named “Goon Fights” so that probably tells you all you need to know.

Also, via Wikipedia there have been at least 50 defunct teams in the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey since it’s formation in 1996. Impressive.
