Colt McCoy and Jay Gruden Share Awkward Hug At the Behest of Jon Gruden

Colt McCoy and Washington coach Jay Gruden had a painfully awkward embrace on live television following Washington’s upset win over Dallas on Monday night. Gruden wanted a hug. McCoy thought he wanted a high five. It all happened after Lisa Salters relayed a dumb question about hugging from Jon Gruden. (And before Washington P.R. told an ESPN Deportes reporter, “no means no!”)

When McCoy’s parents saw the awkward hug on the giant Cowboys Stadium scoreboard they reacted like this.

In McCoys defense, he and Gruden are both new to Washington and probably don’t have a lot of celebratory reps. Presumably, Jon Gruden ignored the fact that his brother looked like he wanted a high five and suggest McCoy was unprepared for the hug.
