Police Sought to Question Florida State RB Karlos Williams After Armed Robbery of Former Marine

Karlos Williams, who is under investigation for domestic battery after allegedly leaving bruises on his pregnant girlfriend, is also part of an investigation into an armed robbery of a 26-year-old Florida State student/former marine Freightlin Shooter Cox that occurred this past June. As ESPN’s Mark Schlabach and Brett McMurphy report:
Williams hasn’t been charged — or arrested — in either investigation. When asked last week about a report that Williams was facing a suspension (it’s unclear which case that question was referring to, or both), Florida State head Jimbo Fisher offered a categorical denial. “There’s another false report,” he said. “and that’s amazing how things happen. Whoever has sources, whoever has rumors, needs to check who they are talking to – because that is about as far from truth as there is.”
Fisher also called Williams a “tremendous” kid and ambassador.
Given the stories that have come out about how the university and police handled the Jameis Winston case, and reports of cover-ups of other alleged crimes by Florida State football players, Fisher hasn’t exactly earned the benefit of the doubt that his program has handled and will handle Williams’ circumstances in a forthright, ethical manner.
