Chris "Mad Dog" Russo Yelled A Lot About Condoleezza Rice On The NCAA Playoff Committee

Chris “Mad Dog” Russo fielded a call from Brad in Atlanta on his SiriusXM radio show this afternoon. Evidently, Dog had been criticizing Condoleezza Rice’s position on the NCAA Football playoff committee, which Brad in Atlanta thought was a bit harsh: “She’s one of the most qualified people in the world.” Dog disagreed, loudly. A few highlights:

  • After Brad in Atlanta said Rice would do a better job than Dog would: “WELL I’M NOT ON THE COMMITTEE. LEAVE ME OUT OF IT, BRAD. WHO CARES WHAT I THINK?”
  • “I’M NOT INTERESTED IN NATIONAL SECURITY, THIS IS SPORTS.”
  • “How do we know she’s a sports nut? Because she tells us that? HAVE WE EVER HEARD HER DO A TALKSHOW? Or break down sports over a couple of beers with the guys in girls in bars? HOW DO WE KNOW? SHE WENT TO A COUPLE OF WIZARDS GAMES, AND SHE’S A SPORTS NUT ALL OF A SUDDEN?!”

Though it would easy to jump to conclusions from those quotes, this disdain was not because of Rice’s gender. Dog also has a bone to chew with General Mike Gould: “He has as much right to be on that committee as my 11-year-old does.”

My personal feeling on the matter is a subversive hope that the committee decides the most controversial results possible. However that may happen, a tidal wave of backlash to push for an eight-team playoff would be ideal.
