Fantasy Football Waiver Wire, Week 11: C.J. (Anderson) To the Rescue

(gets lost down internet wormhole.)

Where were we? Oh yeah, C.J. Ronnie Hillman left with an injury on Sunday, and Anderson came in and took over and put up over 160 yards from scrimmage, including going through the Raiders’ swiss cheese defense for a long touchdown catch and run.

Needless to say, you want a running back who gets to carry the ball with Peyton Manning at quarterback, and with Montee Ball working his way back from injury this week, and Hillman out for 2-3 weeks, the opportunity is still there for Anderson to make a splash over the next few weeks.

As always, here are the rest of the waiver recommendations, for all players owned by less than 66% of fantasy leagues according to CBS Sports data.

QUARTERBACKS

Shallow: You should really have Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck, or Aaron Rodgers on your team.

Okay, had to get that off my chest. That said, we’ve seen guys off the waiver wire, whether it be Kirk Cousins for a stretch or Mark Sanchez this last Sunday, who can provide production and at least match many other quarterbacks who are not in that tier. And, I know I’ve been banging this drum, but you can get pretty good production by picking up Robert Griffin (58%) and that starts this week against Tampa Bay.

Deep and Average Leagues: The first matchup to play is Teddy Bridgewater (19%) vs. Chicago and their flammable defense. After that, you can go to Josh McCown (18%) vs. Washington and his set of tall receivers that present matchup problems in that one. Finally, if you are desperate, don’t forget that Ryan Mallett (7%) was named the new starter before the bye week, and he will try do at least as well as Andy Dalton vs Cleveland.

RUNNING BACKS

Shallow: The matchup this week against Atlanta means that Johnathan Stewart (63%) and DeAngelo Williams (55%) are both playable as flex starts, with Stewart likely being a top 24 matchup.

Tre Mason (65%) got vultured at the goal line by Benny Cunningham, and has another tough matchup against Denver. If you can plan ahead, though, he plays San Diego, Oakland, and Washington in weeks 12 to 14.

Keep an eye on Pierre Thomas (63%) news as he could be back from injury.

Average: Jonas Gray (32%) had 29 carries over last two games, and then the Patriots had a bye. For perspective, Stevan Ridley was averaging 16 carries a game. All indications are Gray is the man to replace Ridley in this offense, and he will see his TD numbers go up in November and December as a result. Buy now.

Charles Sims (47%) got the same number of touches as Bobby Rainey in his first action, and could see that go up this week vs. Washington.

Deep: Damien Williams could see more action as the Dolphins are concerned about Lamar Miller’s shoulder injury.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Shallow: Jordan Matthews (50%) continues to outperform Riley Cooper in Philadelphia and had a big game on Monday night. He should be a top 40 starting option at WR this week.

Average: Davante Adams (47%) is the guy I am picking up just in case now that we are mostly through the bye weeks.

Greg Jennings (35%) vs. Bears is the matchup start.

Deep: Jarvis Landry (7%) is the guy I banged a drum for last week. He didn’t put up huge numbers in a not-particularly favorable matchup at Detroit, but I will point out that he had 10 targets last week, and has twice as many as Hartline over the last 5 games. He’ll have some easier games after this week, but I think he will be a fantasy sleeper over the next month.

Also, the Jacksonville situation is one to file away for next week, Allen Robinson out for the year. Will Marqise Lee get an opportunity in two weeks? Cecil Shorts and Allen Hurns both had concussions also, so we await word on their status.

TIGHT ENDS

Timothy Wright (30%) vs. Colts is a fantastic matchup, and a viable start as well this week.

Deep: Austin Seferian-Jenkins (8%) vs. Washington is your best option deep on the waiver wire this week.
