Sandro Wieser, a soccer player for Swiss club Aarau, might be facing legal trouble following a horrific tackle in a match over the weekend that left his opponent with a torn ACL, a torn kneecap along with other cartilage damage. The Guardian reports that FC Zurich’s club president has “lodged legal proceedings for intentional injury” against Wieser for his flying challenge that has jeopardized the career of former Ivory Coast international Gilles Yapi-Yapo.

As you can see in the video, the challenge by Wieser is patently ridiculous and widely dangerous. Wieser apparently apologized on his Facebook page and said there wasn’t any intent. However this potential case is resolved, a good rule of thumb should be not to fly in at your opponent’s knee with Mortal Kombat style kicks.
