Adrian Peterson, Ray Rice or Richie Incognito: Who Returns to the NFL 1st?

The 2014-2015 NFL season ended with a thud: The Seahawks drilled the Broncos in one of the least competitive, most boring Super Bowls ever. Since that moment, three off-the-field stories have dominated the NFL more than anything that has happened on the field:

* Fallout from the Richie Incognito bullying story. He went to rehab. He’s tried out for a few teams. His former teammate/friend/victim of bullying Jonathan Martin ended up with the 49ers. Offensive line play is abysmal around the NFL this year, so who signs Incognito (turns 32 in July)?

* Ray Rice knocking out his then-fiancee in an elevator in Atlantic City. Roger Goodell screwed this one up, took heat for it, and ultimately may be the largest stain on his legacy as NFL commish. Rice is currently suspended, and the Ravens cut him. Rice only turns 28 in January, but his 2013 season was his worst. Who’s going to take a chance on the former Pro Bowler?

* Adrian Peterson sullied an otherwise brilliant football career by beating his 4-year old son with a switch, and was arrested after his Baby Mama found marks on the kid’s scrotum and back. He’s suspended for the rest of the season, but only turns 30 in March. The way he’s returned from injuries, it’s like he’s a bionic man. Which team will take a PR hit and sign Peterson?

The last case is perhaps the most interesting. Peterson has a Hall of Fame resume and presumably a couple more 1,500 yard seasons left. Most importantly, he did something neither of the other two have done: He came out with a strong apology to USA Today Sports:

"“I won’t ever use a switch again,” Peterson said. “There’s different situations where a child needs to be disciplined as far as timeout, taking their toys away, making them take a nap. There’s so many different ways to discipline your kids.”"

Incognito melted down on twitter and has maintained he did nothing wrong. Rice was contrite, and his fiancee married him, but anyone who needs of recollection of how bad it was can search for the video online. Which leaves us with Peterson.

His suspension appeal won’t be heard by Roger Goodell, but rather Harold Henderson, on December 2nd.

If the team you root for showed interest in either of these players to fill a need, which would you object to most?
