NFL Picks Against the Spread: 12 Home Favorites on Revenge Sunday

Picking five NFL games against the spread each week is terribly difficult. We’re using lines from the Hilton SuperContest, and remember, 57 percent is considered good. CineSport’s Noah Coslov went 1-4 last week to fall to 22-33 on the year. Jason went 3-2 to improve to 34-21.

There are 14 games Sunday and Monday, but only two home underdogs – the Vikings (+9.5) and the Giants (+3.5). The other home dog this weekend, Oakland, won outright Thursday against KC.

I think the Vikings-Packers game is the most fascinating game of the weekend. Minnesota has poorly at home against good teams (Patriots, Lions) but beaten bad teams (Falcons, Redskins). Now they’ve got the best team in the league coming to town, and the Packers have topped 50 points in each of the last two games (both at home). This qualifies as a trap game for Green Bay – the best team in the AFC, New England, looms next week. The Oddsshark trends point to a high-scoring game.

Toss in the revenge factor – Green Bay whipped ’em 42-10, but that was pre-Teddy Bridgewater – and you’ve gotta take Minnesota, right?

In fact, it’s quite the revenge weekend in the NFL: The Jets want to avenge 20-point loss to Buffalo (the game’s in Detroit), the Jaguars want payback for 44-17 beat down against the Colts, and finally there are the Giants hosting the Cowboys Monday night in a rematch (Dallas won the first meeting 31-21).

And if you feel like it, toss Josh McCown in there, too – his Bucs are going to Chicago to play the team that didn’t keep him in the offseason.
