Dominic Raiola Also Punched Patriots DL Zach Moore Sunday
Dominic Raiola, the Lions center who ostensibly admitted to diving at the knees of Patriots rookie defensive lineman Zach Moore yesterday, also threw a punch at Moore in the final minute of the game (just a few plays prior to the other incident). While it’s essentially a weekly occurrence in football, it continues to seem ill-advised to punch dudes in their helmets.
Bill Belichick had a characteristically wry response to the knee dive:

Raiola was clearly perturbed that New England scored a late touchdown when the game was already out of reach and they could’ve knelt — he stated as much — but that’s not likely an explanation that will be deemed acceptable by the league office when it comes to doling out discipline. It’ll be interesting to monitor whether/what Raiola’s punishment is this week.
