Chris Gonos, the Sandusky, Ohio resident who was allegedly beaten up by Johnny Manziel’s entourage over the weekend after aggressively seeking a hug, got into some legal trouble along with three family members earlier this year. According to the Morning Journal, Gonos and his two brothers pleaded guilty to “one count of conspiracy to structure financial transactions to evade filing currency transaction reports” and were sentenced in April (the actual pleas were entered last October per the Sandusky Register). Their father was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison and ordered to forfeit $190,000 after the family was accused of skimming $1.8 million from restaurants that they owned to avoid regulatory filings:

"The family was accused of taking cash from Dianna’s Deli in Sandusky and Port Clinton and The Depot in Sandusky and making multiple deposits of cash just less than the $10,000 threshold, to evade the filing of a Currency Transaction Report, according to the U.S Northern District Court. The indictment states the incidents took place between 2007 and 2009."

Chris and his brothers were each fined $1,000 and given two years probation for their roles.

Gonos also had special conditions imposed because of drug use, according to court documents. From the Sandusky Register story:

" Federal court documents show that Chris Gonos, however, now has special conditions imposed on him because he failed multiple drug tests in recent months and weeks. He tested positive for marijuana use in September and last week, and he tested positive for cocaine in June. He told court officials “marijuana use has been a part of his life for so long, and stopping has been more difficult than he imagined,” according to court documents. The conditions of his release require him to avoid alcohol use and continue undergoing substance abuse treatment. "

Given the comments about partying at the same building where he saw Manziel, and the timing, these conditions may become an issue.
