ESPN FC ran some excerpts from U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard’s upcoming memoir. In one of the excerpts, Howard notes that his former international teammate Brad Friedel refused to offer him a recommendation, when he applied for a British work permit in 2003 to join Manchester United.

Friedel has denied the accusation and has demanded an apology. What the U.S. lacks in technique it makes up for in drama, apparently.
