K.J. McDaniels Says His Emphatic Block of Greivis Vasquez Hit a Fan and Gave Her a Concussion

Our site covered K.J. McDaniels last month when he authoritatively sent a Greivis Vasquez shot flying into the stands. In a profile by SI’s Rob Mahoney, the high-flying 76ers rookie says that there was collateral damage on the play:

"“I surprised myself,” McDaniels said of the block. “There was a lady who got hit by the ball who got a concussion, I believe.” McDaniels, upon hearing what happened, sent flowers."

It would be appropriate to say that the flashes of potential that McDaniels has shown have been one of the lone bright spots for the 2-18 Sixers this season, but that 10% winning percentage is more or less failure by design on the part of the franchise.
