Auburn Freshman Football Player Jakell Mitchell Shot and Killed at Off-Campus Apartment

Jakell Mitchell, a redshirt freshman football player Auburn, was shot and killed early Sunday morning at an off-campus apartment according to local police. Police arrived at the Tiger Lodge apartment complex, the site of the shooting, shortly after midnight. Alabama.com reports Mitchell, 18, was taken to a nearby hospital with multiple gunshot wounds but died shortly after arriving at the emergency room. Oanow.com writes that police are treating Mitchell’s death as a homicide and are not releasing any other information at this time.
