Bears Fire Coach Marc Trestman and GM Phil Emery
By Jason McIntyre
The Chicago Bears, a team the general public loved heading into the 2014 season, just fired their head coach Marc Trestman and their GM, Phil Emery. The Bears were a colossal disaster this season, finishing 5-11, and losing five games by 14 or more points.
The defense couldn’t stop a nose bleed, and Jay Cutler was a turnover machine on offense. Now, the unpredictable QB becomes somebody else’s problem.
The new GM will have to decide what he wants to do with his QB, but that decision almost certainly will have to come after interviews with prospective head coaches. It’ll be much tougher to hire a quality coach without a QB. And sorry, Jimmy Clausen doesn’t count.
Trestman should be able to land on his feet as an offensive coordinator somewhere.
