Ohio State beat Alabama in the Sugar Bowl on Thursday night to advance to the 2015 College Football National Championship. During the game, an Ohio State fan was caught awkwardly touching a dude and it was super awkward. Awkward enough to make the Internet wonder, what is going on here?

[UPDATE: A reader has informed us that the Ohio State fan is the Ohio State mascot. The mascot’s side piece? An Ohio State football player. That awkward touch? Some sort of congratulatory gesture. Mystery solved. /end update]

What was going through this fan’s head when the camera caught the comforting – but awkward! – touch? Is that the fan’s sidepiece (side piece? One word or two? So many questions.) and the Buckeyes fan was worried that the world now knew about the secret relationship? Notice the other guy in the picture appears to be telling the [probable] couple something. Perhaps he’s warning them that there is a camera pointed at them? Perhaps!? I hope the Internet gets to the bottom of this scandalous – and awkward – moment.

Hopefully, the Ohio State fan’s significant other was not watching.
