Stuart Scott Passes Away At Age 49

Incredibly sad news is coming out of Bristol this morning. Longtime ESPN fixture Stuart Scott passed away at age 49 following a long battle with cancer. Scott joined ESPN in 1993 and spent the following 21 years with the network. An emotional Hannah Storm announced the news live on SportsCenter Sunday morning.

This summer he received the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at the ESPYs where he mentioned his two daughters, Taelor and Sydni. In the speech he said, “When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live.”

In March 2014 the New York Times profiled Scott’s fight with cancer.

On NFL Countdown a emotional Tom Jackson said, “It just jumped into my mind … ‘as cool as the other side of the pillow’ will forever be ingrained in my heart.”
