On Tuesday four players were elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame for the first time since 1955. Craig Biggio, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez and John Smoltz will enter Cooperstown in July. Biggio narrowly missed out in his second attempt last year. Johnson and Martinez each pulled in over 90 percent of the vote. Johnson, Martinez and Smoltz were on the ballot for the first time.

Mike Piazza, Tim Raines along with others like Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds missed out again. Piazza moved up to over 69 percent of the vote, so the anticipation is he’ll gain entry next year when only Ken Griffey Jr. goes onto the ballot.
