Larry David made his appearance on the Howard Stern show today, and it was phenomenal. At the very end of his more than hour long interview with Stern, David was asked about his beloved Jets.

“I think with just a little studying, I think I could be a tremendous offensive coordinator. And defensive coordinator. Yes, I see many things that I know I could fix.”

It’s the Jets. He’s not wrong.

As for his qualifications: “When I was a kid and we used to play football in the parking lot, I would design very good plays. Why couldn’t I do that, other people do that, why not me?”

I would love to see Larry David’s playbook. As for defense, he has a core philosophy, which could have certainly resulted in a better performance against the Kansas City Chiefs. “A back would not be open in the flat, that guy would be covered!”

Of course, we must immediately install David as the leader of the fourth down movement. Let’s see . . . Larry David . . . or Phil Simms. Which side are you on? When asked about never punting, David said, “I don’t think never, but I read this article that says the odds are in your favor if you don’t punt. . . . But teams don’t go for it enough. Teams should be going for it a lot more often than they do.”

Amen.
