Steve Smith, who is probably pound-for-pound one of the toughest athletes in all of sports, nearly beat up a sports radio guy in Boston after the Ravens lost to the Patriots Saturday night.

Steve Smith hears all, apparently. A former teammate of his, Jermaine Wiggins (Panthers in 2002 and 2003) is now on the radio in Boston, and once called Smith a “bully” and a “bad locker room guy.” It’s unclear how these words from local radio could get to Smith in Baltimore, but they did, and the volcanic receiver was not happy.

Smith, who famously beat up two teammates during his days in Carolina and will scrap on the field with a moment’s notice, saw Wiggins after the game on the way to the team bus and allegedly, this is what went down:

"“So [Smith] sees Wiggy and he’s like, ‘Yo, what’s up?’ [Wiggy] says, ‘Hey, Steve, what’s up?’ [Smith] is like, ‘No, dude, what the [bleep’s] up?’ “Wiggy’s like, ‘Aw, now, now you’re swearing in front of my kids.’ “(Bertrand had said Wiggins was in the area with his wife and two sons.) “And he’s like, ‘You gotta step up.’ And then it starts getting nasty. “Steve’s like, ‘Man, you called me a bully. What’s up with that? You know what I’m going to do? I’m going to [bleep] you, right now.'”"

At this point, several people moved to break up the incident, which is probably a good thing, because who needs to get their ass kicked in front of their kids? Steve Smith would have had no shame in two-piecing him right there on his way to the bus.

"“[Former Patriot Matt] Chatham took [Smith] and said, ‘Man, you gotta get on the bus now,’ ” continued Zolak. “And Steve Smith just kept yappin’ and yappin’ . . . “Now, Wiggy’s like Kevin Garnett, pointing at him over the top: ‘I’ll tell you what you are: You’re the same thing you always been!'” Bertrand later related: “So Wiggy’s screaming: ‘You won’t do nothing! You won’t do nothing! You’re a bitch! You won’t do nothing!’ “"

It appears Steve Smith has eyes and ears everywhere. Speaking negatively about Steve Smith does not seem like a wise thing. Note to all: Keep Steve Smith’s name out of your mouth.
