Dion Waiters Happy to Be Touching the Basketball in Oklahoma City

Dion Waiters is loving it in Oklahoma City. Waiters’ first game in OKC was abysmal as he shot 1-of-9 from the field and the Thunder suffered a 21-point loss to the Kings. Since then, he’s averaged 17 points in four games, providing the scoring punch the Thunder were hoping for. Waiters attributes his success to actually touching the ball. Like, you know, actually touching it.

I think that might be a shot at the Cleveland Cavaliers. During his final months in Cleveland Waiters skipped the National Anthem and appeared to have issues with LeBron’s court vision. According to NBA.com, Waiters was actually taking more shots per 36 minutes than Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving, but don’t tell that to Dion. Now that he’s with the unselfish Thunder, he’s getting two more shots a game than he did in Cleveland. Though five games could be considered … a small sample size. I’m sure Waiters won’t ever feel underused again.
