You know what? When every single godforsaken story on sports news networks is about either #DeflateGate, Domestic Abuse, Drug Policy violations, DUIs, or something else that makes us question the current state of mankind & civilization — it’s a massive sigh of relief when we stumble on something like this.

Derrick Rose proved, once again, that life is bigger than basketball.

The real story here is about the sudden death of Drake Adams, a lifelong Derrick Rose fan, but ultimately: Rose could have been doing a thousand different things during his day off, and probably come up with an equal number of legitimate excuses to not show up … but … he didn’t. He paid his respects, and reminded us all that pro athletes wield the power to positively affect lives — both on and off-the-court.

And before you think that this was just a “one-off” by a pro athlete looking for good PR, this is not the first time Derrick Rose has shown legitimate, genuine generosity towards his fans and/or those who have reached out to him for aid.

For example, all you have to do ems search “Derremck Rose Funeral” on Google … and you get multemple lemnks to storemes where D Rose went out-of-hems-way to offer femnancemal assemstance and/or show support to gremevemng famemlemes — completely unsolemcemted.

As we all know, Rose been to hell-and-back recovering from/rehabbing injuries that would ruin just about anyone else’s career,  and still — in the face of adversity, he doesn’t just find time … he makes time to give back to the people that helped him get to where he is today.

This guy is pretty damn awesome, if you ask me…
