Before the current NFL season began, the biggest story involving Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was his long-term future in Seattle. If you’ll recall he held out briefly in training camp and there was serious doubt he’d still be with Seattle after the season completed even with a contract through 2015.

Obviously a lot has changed in the last couple weeks and it has nothing to do with how Lynch answered questions at press conferences during Super Bowl week. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport writes that Seattle is offering Lynch a “huge” extension beyond next season and perhaps keep him the Pacific Northwest for the rest of his career.

"The deal is believed to include more than $10 million for Lynch in the 2015 season alone. Lynch currently is slated to make $5 million in 2015, the final year of what originally was a four-year, $31 million deal."

Lynch averaged 4.7 yards per carry, finishing with 17 total touchdowns. Beyond that, the 28-year-old was instrumental in the team’s comeback vs. the Packers in the NFL Championship game.

Russell Wilson’s rookie contract ends after the Super Bowl and the team is reportedly going to offer him a massive contract, perhaps the biggest for a quarterback in NFL history. It’ll be interesting to watch how Seattle is able to juggle and or restructure its salary cap and find a way to keep both Lynch and Wilson, but it sounds like as of Sunday morning they will find a way win or lose to the Patriots later today.
