Rex Ryan often wears his heart on his sleeve, literally. A couple years ago it became public knowledge that the coach sports a tattoo of his wife wearing a green Mark Sanchez jersey on his shoulder. Now that he’s the head coach of the Bills the color of that tattoo is apparently an issue, so the swift-thinking Ryan decided to get it colored blue at an Arizona shop last week for $80, via a story by the Wall Street Journal.

The Journal also notes in the story that Ryan divested himself of all Jets gear since being fired by the team that he guided to a pair of AFC Championship games earlier in his career. There’s also this fantastic nugget:

"Unclear is the current whereabouts of the sweater vests. Mr. Ryan said his wife donated all his Jets gear to the Salvation Army in suburban New Jersey, where thrift-store shoppers might have unknowingly bought clothes once worn by the popular coach."

But back to the tattoo. Hopefully Ryan likes his better half in blue because it would probably be difficult to change the color of the ink at his next NFL stop, regardless of how long he spends in Buffalo.
