Patriots 28, Seahawks 24, perhaps the greatest Super Bowl ever played, pulled in the highest overnight rating ever for the game, a 49.7. That’s a strong indication that the game will be the most-watched TV program in history. The previous mark for highest overnight rating was in 2013 during the Ravens/49ers “blackout” game, which pulled in a 48.1.

UPDATE: At 114.8 million viewers, this was indeed the most watched television program in US history.

Last year’s Seahawks/Broncos snoozer generated a 47.6. [via Sports TV Ratings]
