Wisconsin's Bronson Koenig on Redskins: "Would it be OK for the Kansas City Negroes or the Blackskins?"

Bronson Koenig, a sophomore point guard for Wisconsin who we’ve said is on the trajectory toward becoming a household name, was also profiled by Fox Sports Wisconsin and Sports Illustrated last week. Those stories described the leadership role he has taken on with Native American youth, and the extent of his social consciousness was built on by Jeff Potrykus in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Koenig, whose father is German and mother is a member of the Ho Chunk tribe, discussed the issues facing American Indians.

Koenig spoke to Potrykus about how he learned from family and friends as opposed to history classes (which covered the topic but not in-depth) that Native Americans faced something akin to the Holocaust in this country, and is especially passionate about Native American mascots and nicknames:
