Dan Patrick addressed the whole kerfuffle with Colin Cowherd again today after receiving a phone call from a listener who brought it up. A partial transcript:

I want to move on from it. I shouldn’t have even lowered myself to it. Somehow he’s complimenting Skip Bayless and Jim Rome, and he brought me in, and I thought he did a disservice to them. You want to compliment them for their work ethic? Feel free. But, it felt like he used them to denigrate me and this show, and I wouldn’t stand for it, and certainly the guys working for me.

Speaking of resources, I’ve got four guys who work on this show. He’s at the Worldwide Leader. He’s got more resources than any other radio host in America. Just do your job, move on. […] This isn’t physical lifting. I never said that I’m working hard, but I’m trying to work smart. And anybody in sports media — they’re not working hard. We’re lucky. I’m very fortunate to be able to do this. I have friends who work hard — police officers, schoolteachers. I’m not in danger here. The people in the military — they’re the ones who work hard. Work ethic? I hope I got it from my mother and father. We work hard, but we work hard in the context of what we do for a living, and we’re very, very fortunate.

Patrick went on to say that he tries to model his collaborative show after Howard Stern’s.

It is our sincere wish at TBL that prospective sports media feuders save some fire for the barren summer.
