Jim Boeheim, at his presser after Syracuse lost to Pitt on Saturday, answered a question from a reporter who asked him to respond to everyone who thinks his program has always been dirty after they self-imposed a 2015 postseason ban for academic fraud. It’s the second time Syracuse has been banned from the NCAA Tournament. “I don’t give a shit what those people think,” said Boeheim. “I know what I’ve done, I know what we do, and I’m proud of it.”

Punishing players who weren’t there when the transgressions occurred — and getting the self-imposed sanctions out of the way before a recruiting class with multiple McDonald’s All-Americans arrives — wouldn’t seem, on the surface, something to be proud of.
