Bill Belichick went on Letterman Wednesday night, because … that’s apparently something taciturn, curmudgeonly professional football coaches are duty-bound to do after winning the Super Bowl. Credit Letterman, a Colts fan, for trying to talk about the deflated balls controversy that enveloped the weeks leading up the actual Super Bowl itself. An uncomfortable-looking Belichick didn’t quite play along, at one point saying, “We’re just out there playing a game, doing the best we can.”

Cue the nervous laughter sign.
