Jerry Seinfeld’s love for the New York Mets is exceedingly well-chronicled by now. The comedian popped up in the Mets’ booth multiple times for commentary during games. There’s the amazing two-part episode of Seinfeld, “The Boyfriend” that features Keith Hernandez, Roger McDowell and numerous “Game 6” references.

Add it up and it’s fair to say Seinfeld is a legitimate, die-hard, 162-game fan of the Mets and not simply another celebrity sing when you’re winning type, jumping on the latest sports bandwagon. (Obviously this wouldn’t be a good idea given how the Mets have played the last half-decade or so.)

On Monday SNY, which televises the Mets’ games, announced that Nelson Figeuroa is taking over as pre and postgame analyst duties from Bobby Ojeda, whom the network couldn’t come to a contract agreement with for 2015. The news prompted Seinfeld to take to Twitter like a regular fan to voice his displeasure:

Bear in mind, Seinfeld’s affection for Ojeda’s analysis runs deep, from 2013:

And 2012:

And 2011:

So yeah, one of the architects of the most-successful sitcom of all time spends free time nowadays not only watching the Mets games, but the postgame shows, too … not that there’s anything wrong with that.(*)

Anyways, here’s Seinfeld and Larry David at the SNL 40th Anniversay thing last night, if you haven’t seen it on 458 other Internet websites by now.
