Bayern Munich keeper Manuel Neuer finished third in the Ballon d’Or voting earlier this year and is generally considered the best at his position in the world, however Neuer — for all his so-called ‘sweeper keeper’ exploits — has never scored a goal in open play quite like this one by FC Augsburg’s Marwin Hitz. As far as goals scored by keepers go, it’s hard to top what the Swiss keeper did Saturday to help his team snatch a 2-2 draw in stoppage time with Bayer Leverkusen. That’s a nice finish by any player, let alone a 6-foot-5 keeper.
