This is a straight-up crazy video from Sunday’s Athens Derby between bitter rivals Panathinaikos and Olympiacos. Panathinaikos won the match 2-1, but it’s mostly irrelevant due to rioting fans who invaded the pitch after throwing flares and chairs, causing chaos throughout the game’s entirety. According to The Daily Mail, former Fulham midfielder Pajtim Kasami needed treatment after being hit by a flare while sitting on the bench, while the Olympiacos coach had a chair thrown at him.

Evangelos Marinakis, the owner and president of Olympiacos, called the game an “atrocity” hailing the resolve of his players, “I saw the players. Some are beaten, others are upset, others are shocked. We did not come for war, we came to play football.”

Playing the game under normal circumstances might be a little difficult when the home team’s ultras display a banner across their section that reads “War Zone.”
