Josh Hamilton Facing MLB Discipline For Something "Worse" Than PEDs
By Jason McIntyre
Josh Hamilton, the Anaheim angels slugger who has struggled since arriving from Texas in December 2012, is awaiting word from MLB about a discipline for something “worse” than PEDs, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. The LA Times broke the news earlier Wednesday.
What could be worse than PEDs?
Drug addiction nearly derailed Hamilton’s career in the early 00s, but he was able to clean up his act and turn into one of baseball’s best players, capturing the AL MVP in 2010.
Hamilton, who turns 34 in May, had three excellent seasons in Texas, and then signed a lucrative 5-year, $125 million deal with the Angels, where he’s largely been a disaster. In his only postseason appearance with the Angels, Hamilton went 0-for-13 last October and Anaheim was swept by Kansas City.
The Angels are on the hook for Hamilton’s salary the next three years: $25.4 million this year, then $32.4 million in 2016 and 2017.
