Phil Mickelson Skipped a High-Stakes Round at Augusta Because He Was Tired

Phil Mickelson is 44-years old and has 3 Masters wins under his belt. He’s no stranger to Augusta National, and doesn’t exactly need to see the course to know how to play it. On Tuesday, Mickelson was scheduled to play a high-stakes game with Rickie Fowler, Brooks Koepka, and Ben Crane – like he’s done before. This year is different though; Mickelson just finished up the Honda Classic on MONDAY, and was scheduled to play in some really exclusive event at the Seminole Golf Club on Monday afternoon. So Mick backed out of the high-stakes game with Fowler and friends and claimed he’s just too tired.

As Jason Sobel pointed out, this is a very real first-world problem.

I would have gladly taken Phil’s place, of course I’d need his wallet to keep from going broke.
