NFL free agency is fast-approaching, which means you have to be extra special careful before passing along news from Twitter trolls posing as league insiders. Case in point, a fake Ian Rapoport account — @rapsheel — amassed over 700 retweets on a fake Brandon Marshall trade. Disclosure: I saw a RT of it and sent it to the internal TBL email thread before quickly realizing it was an impostor account. However, I feel less bad about the mistake after realizing that NFL Network made the same mistake. (And here are a couple other screenshots, showing that this was not a photoshop):

How does the momentum even begin for these situations, and why doesn’t Twitter move swiftly to ban these fake troll accounts?
