Pablo Sandoval Doesn't Have Any Love Lost for the San Francisco Giants, Apparently

Pablo Sandoval spent the first seven years of his career with the Giants, winning three World Series playing third base at AT&T Park. Over the winter, Sandoval signed with the Red Sox via a five-year, $95 million deal and it appears he has no love lost for his former team. In a piece by the Bleacher Report’s Scott Miller, Sandoval talks about how he’s happy with Boston and how the Giants didn’t make a serious effort to retain him last spring.

Sandoval sounds particularly upset with Giants’ GM Brian Sabean and said he left money on the table to sign with Boston in November.

"“I knew early in spring training last year I was going to leave,” Sandoval said. “They didn’t respect my agent. Contract talks, everything. The way Brian Sabean (Giants general manager) talked to my agent.”"

Perhaps the most surprising part of the story is how happy Sandoval sounds to be out of San Francisco, since the only people he’ll miss is former manager Bruce Bochy and ex-teammate Hunter Pence. That’s it.

"“Only Bochy,” Sandoval said of Giants manager Bruce Bochy. “I love Boch. He’s like my dad. He’s the only guy that I miss. And Hunter Pence. Just those guys."

As always, sports remains a business. Hopefully you’ve already realized that and Sandoval’s comments didn’t disillusion you.
