Today is 3/11/15. Three Eleven Day. Get it? Much like people smoke 420’s on April 20th every year, and celebrate the day Marty McFly went back to the future every day, people listen to 311 on March 11th. It’s one of the Internet’s grandest traditions. While researching this holiday, I noticed on Wikipedia that Shaquille O'Neal had appeared in the 311 video for the song “You Wouldn’t Believe.”

Well, I don’t believe I knew the name of this song. And I did not remember this video. It’s really quite impressive. 311 drives military vehicles into a warehouse where their equipment is set up. Then, halfway through the video, the band takes a break to shoot some hoops. That’s when Shaq pulls up in an SUV. He then dominates and dunks on 311.

This has been the story of the time that Shaq showed up in a 311 video and played basketball.

One last thing – 311’s 311 album was released 20 years ago in July. That makes that album and this band a prime target for retrospectives and thinkpieces over the summer. 311 was as much a part of the 90’s as a teal Larry Johnson jersey, so be on the lookout.
