Albany punched its third straight NCAA Tournament appearance thanks to a fortunate bounce of the ball in the final seconds of the America East final vs. Stony Brook. Down two, Albany missed a potential game-tying lay-up, but the ball tipped back to a wide-open Peter Hooley, who drained the game-winning 3-pointer giving the Great Danes a 51-50 win. The shot denied Stony Brook its first trip to the Big Dance.

Hooley, the Great Danes leading scorer, left the team earlier this year to return home to Australia to be with his mother during her final days battling cancer. The Saratogian ran a nice story earlier this year detailing some of what Hooley and his family went through and how the Albany team rallied around them.
