When soccer fans talk about Arsenal’s style under Arsene Wenger, they envision sequences like this where Mesut Özil hooks up with Olivier Giroud on a very nice passing sequence which makes the opponent (West Ham United) appear as if they’re standing in drying cement. The goal put Arsenal ahead 1-0 and if the result holds the Gunners will only be a point behind Manchester City for second place, although City plays later today vs. Burnley.

Gunners fans best hope Giroud, Özil, et al are able to pull off something like this — multiple times — on Tuesday when the team looks to turnaround a 3-1 deficit vs. Monaco in the Champions League.

Later in the match Özil picked up plenty of flack on social media for deciding not to shoot on an open goal, opting to pass instead.
