Yard Goats. You will not soon forget that name. The Hartford Yard Goats are what the New Britain Rock Cats will be known as in the future. The team is moving in 2016 and with the new home the double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies will have an wholly original new name. Bless their Yard Goat hearts. From the Hartford Courant:

"Get used to seeing goats. Although the name Yard Goats is technically an old railroad slang term for an engine that switches a train to get it ready for another locomotive, the animal angle lends itself to logos and merchandise. Hartford’s stadium could have a petting zoo, at least on some nights."

OK, so bless their tiny train hearts. And bless you, Minor League Baseball, for giving us a team name that is not recycled. There are two MLB teams named after socks.
