Mike Francesa Continues to Be Baffled By WWE Fans

Mike Francesa chided a caller for asking his opinion on WrestleMania, when it was obvious the Pope would not deign to have an opinion on the topic. If you’re having deja vu, a similar situation happened a couple weeks back. Don’t his listeners have better things to do than wait for an hour on hold to solicit a nonexistent opinion? (That the same question could be posed about Bill in Yonkers and his blockbuster Mets trade proposal is an irony not worth delving deeper into.)

Francesa wasn’t entirely condescending in the segment, but marveled that WWE has such a captive and widespread audience willing to shell out 10 bucks a month for the network and pack almost 100,000 people into Levi’s Stadium this Sunday. It would be great if his producer — who is having his WrestleMania party catered — could convince Francesa to join along so we could get his real, unvarnished opinion on Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns on Monday. The streets need this.
