Phillies Serving Nine Patty Cheeseburger at Citizen's Bank Ballpark This Season
By Mike Cardillo
According to basically every single baseball preview on the web — shameless plug for mine — the 2015 Philadelphia Phillies are projected to be the worst team in the National League, if not the entire sport. So how do you attract fans to Citizen’s Bank Ballpark this summer? Hard booze is one option. A nine-patty cheeseburger from Wayback burger appears to be another.
There’s a very important question here. NBC Philaelphia describes the “Wayback Triple Cheeseburger” as so:
"The super sandwich from the Newark, Delaware-based Wayback Burgers packs 2,200 calories — more than the daily recommended value — and 61 grams of saturated fat (if you can get the whole thing down) into one bun, nine beef burger patties and nine slices of cheese plus one slice of tomato and some lettuce."
Meanwhile, the 700 Level, says this about the greasy monstrosity:
"According to an article on Eater.com, a similar 9-patty burger from Wayback Burgers that was unveiled in Oregon a couple of years ago contained a whopping 5100 calories and a tasty 117 grams of saturated fat, which “is close to six buckets of KFC fried chicken.”"
That’s nearly a 3,000 calorie variance! Inquiring minds and stomachs need to know the truth.
Of all the delightful ballpark food items we’ve seen in the last couple weeks, nine cheeseburgers stacked onto one bun is the most disgusting. There’s a fine line between deep-fried delight and grease-soaked nightmare.
I’m not really sure what else to say, except I’ll post this Simpsons screenshot that is somewhat relevant.
