Damian Lillard scored 36 points and hit 6 of 11 three-pointers on Monday night against Brooklyn. The Nets won, 106-96, but Lillard appeared to set an NBA record in the third quarter when he hit what has to be the shortest recorded three-pointer in NBA history.

Ignore the graphic in the corner of the screen and listen to Ian Eagle. This shot took place in around the 8:40-mark in the third quarter. Lillard made four straight three-pointers in just over three minutes according to the play-by-play. Referee Bennie Adams helped Lillard a bit by calling his first basket a three, despite the fact that he was nowhere near the three-point line.

As explained in the video, the officials missed their opportunity to review the play. So it went in the book as a 25-foot three-pointer. Though looking at the rest of Dame’s shot chart, it was either a 19 or 20-footer. Even during the mid-90’s the line was only as short as 22-feet. So Lillard easily set an unbreakable record for the shortest three-pointer in NBA history.
